妻が入院する。
2、3歩を読むのは当然で、そのあと何歩読めるか。それが僕の仕事だった。

分かりきったことだが寂しい。置き去りにされるほうが寂しい。理由は何であれ。
特殊な感情は2、3歩先が読めない。
寂しい。

In & out green house

Rain

A few tomatoes are still dying. Racking boron was already supplied. But it was too late for a few of them to recover.
So that I took out the dead stocks, and transplanted the replacement stocks. They come from out side of the green house.
When I transplant young tomatoes, I damaged a few of them and throw them away, now they has been grown very healthy.
I have not cared about them at all, but they are much healthier than what is in the green house.
One interesting thing is, I thrown them on the place I throw old vegetables and grass and compost.

後ろから考える

昨日会ったトマトマスターの農業を再現するなら、どうすればよいか。

堆肥を作り畑に入れる訳だが・・・。
堆肥場と畑の距離は近くであるべきだ。

つまり畑が分散しているようでは重機が必要になる。
トマト単品集中の場合、1反のハウスで良いわけだから堆肥場、倉庫をあわせても2反の土地があればいいということになる。

僕が闇雲に畑を拡大しないのはこういう訳だ。必要なものが見えてから動かないとね。

Finally I found my target.
I have been saying that I grow tomato through year according to the regulation of organic agriculture. But I have not been sure if it is possible. Today I met a parson who does this. He was in Kinokawa, Wakayama.

He grows tomatoes through year and is certificated by organic JAS.
He imports organic seeds from Netherlands. And it grows with the original root, not grafting root. He gives only base fertiliser. He makes the compost by himself by bamboo chips, grass and rice shell. Tomato stocks were transplanted Jul last year, not this year, so that it has been 17 months. It means it has over come through 2 Summer. And his tomato tastes very good. Not too sweet, but it has heavy weight and nice sour taste, very original tomato taste.

大阪人

大阪人がサービス精神旺盛というのは良く知られている。それは大阪が商人の町だからだ。
”いらっしゃいませ”
”毎度おおきに”
”どうぞ上がってください”
このあたりは考えなくても口をついて出てくる。
その上、アドリブで笑いを挟んでくる。だから大阪、特にミナミは活気がある。笑わせたもん勝ち、儲けたもん勝ち、頭を下げることなんてなんともない。そういう大阪が大好きだ。

ここでは、ちょっと違う。いや、だいぶ違う。ここは京都文化圏の上に農村なので扱いがむずかしい。商人が頭を下げない。特によそもんには。
店主、家主、地主の類は、客や店子を小作として扱うので、たとえ金を払ったとしても、ありがとう、とは言わないし、笑顔も見せない。

ここに越してきた時は、大家、役所、商店、公民館、郵便局、レストラン、どこに行ってもサービス精神の無さにがっかりしたが、17ヶ月経った今は、それがコメディーに見える。

I am still working to Sakiyama bush farm.
The old lady came and complain again and she want me to work for this farm until really clean. She said out of spite. She looked different parson.

連作障害

ホウ素を数日置きに葉面散布している。ホウ素が欠乏するとCa欠を起こすので同時にCaも葉面散布すると良いそうだ。全くそのとおりにしている。
そのお陰か、枯れる株が少なくなったようだ。
ただし、ホウ素欠乏で一度成長点が枯れ始めると回復はできないようだ。
ホウ素を葉面散布しすぎたせいで、葉の色が変わってきた。これ以上の葉面散布はやめよう。
いまさらながらだが、連作障害に直面してる。

Face the reality

We are getting ready for the organic exhibition.
What I do is making a presentation book with clear documents. At this time, I like to emphasize that we are paying careful attention on the radioactive materials matter after the accident.
As far as I know, this topic is kind of taboo among farmers especially in east Japan. I think it is very Japanese attitude.
I believe that it is the time we need to face the reality.

荒れた畑のリセット

天気が悪いので畑には出たくないのだが、前山の畑の草刈に出動する。出動と言うほど大事なのだ。
ハンマーナイフローターのお陰でずいぶん仕事が捗るが、それでも半年ほったらかした畑の荒れようは酷い。
妻の協力で数時間で3反の畑の半分くらいの草刈が終了した。

手間がかかりそうなのは、蔓が絡みまくった動物よけネットとマルチの除去だ。この手の作業は師匠と何回もやっているのでなんとかなるだろう。

Complain

The owner of the farm in Sakiyama village, an old lady, complains to me about how it is right now. I have not been there since July, as a bush pig rubbed in and damaged potatoes. Since them, I really do not face Sakiyama farm. I thought it was waste of time to deal with animals.
So that the farm became like bush.
So that the neighbour complains to the owner and she.
I told her I liked to give it back to her. She got angry with it like fire.

農協に頼んだホウ素がもう届いた。昨日頼んで今日届くんだから凄い。
早速受け取りに行った。片栗粉みたいな粉だ。いつものことながらなんでこんなもんが生命を左右するんだろうと不思議に思う。

ところで。
肥料に含まれる肥料成分の他は何が入っているんだろう。例えば今日手に入れた硼砂は、36％がホウ素、と書かれている。では、残りの64%は何なのだろう。
これにまともに答えることのできる人いますか？

I need to deal with things about boron. I ordered it at once.

I think farmer is really good job.
The responsibility is not big comparing to the doctors. However farmer can see the mystery of life.

ホウ素不足

普及所の人にウチのトマトはホウ素不足と言われたので、色々資料を見てみた。
なるほど・・・。
ホウ素不足の症状が出ている。
成長点の生育が芳しくなく小さい。
成長点が萎れ、そのまま枯れる。
上位の葉は巻き、下位の葉は枯れる。
花芽の茎が長くなる。

なぜホウ素不足になったかだが。
今回は窒素をたくさん入れた。光合成細菌を使って燐酸の効かせようとしたからだ。窒素がよく効けばその分ホウ素もたくさん必要とされるので、今回はホウ素不足になった。
プラス、前作もトマトだったのでホウ素が多く吸収された。

ホウ素不足になるとどうなるか。
BがあるとCaが動きやすくなる。CaがあるとMgが動きやすい。MgがあるとPが動きやすい。Pが動くとNがよく効く。
ホウ素不足はカルシウム不足を引き起こす。

Instructor came to my farm from prefecture agriculture office. I asked him for wilting tomatoes.
According to him, the source is the racking boron. I gotta do something for it.

しっぺ帰り

月に一回、雇用元の有機農業研究会の勉強会に出席する。そこで数々の講師の話を聞く。だいたいは面白いのだが、中にはひどいものもある。今日がその日だ。彼は特に有機農業や経営について専門家であるわけではないので話がつまらない。つまらないくせに彼だけ金を取る、研修生からだ。
過去2回は我慢したが今日は彼が講義を始める前に席を外した。もちろん許可を得てだ。
そんな風に帰路に着いたところで、一旦停止無視で取り締まりをされ、2点と7000円を失った。警官になぜ一旦停止の場所の前に立たないか聞いたら火がついたように怒っていた。馬鹿だ。

Ready for exhibition

Our local organic agriculture congress will exhibit at Organic expo on 1st to 3rd Nov at Tokyo Big Sight. And I attend it.
And we have a meeting tonight for it.

In the warehouse I found 20 of Japanese style jacket for festival. It is going to be our uniform at the exhibition.

After the accident, the buyers in east are looking for the vegetable in west underground.

トマトの復活が見込めないばかりか青枯病が心配されるので、萎れてしまっている株を抜くことにした。抜き出すと大玉、中玉のほとんどを抜くことになってしまったので、整理をつけるために全部抜いて、ミニだけ残した。
妻の提案でもあった。
すっきりして次に移ろうと。
何でもそうだ。Scrap and build.

First day for me to be an instructor for organic agriculture students at private institute.
I know my experience and knowledge is not enough. But there is not many chances to experience to teach.

There were only 5 students. I received their profiles in advance, and it said the attitude of students were not good. According to it, they behave primary school kid. However the truth was quite opposite. They had their own opinions which was rather unusual for Japanese.
I think the first class went very good.

日没

日没が急に早くなった。
今までは夕方6時鳴ってた”夕焼け小焼け”が5時に鳴る。同時に寺の鐘も鳴る。大阪市はもちろん地元の枚方市でも時間を知らせる音楽なんてもう流れない。僕が子供の頃はあったが。
5時半になるともう暗い。今日は少し仕事が長引いて6時過ぎまで畑にいたが、慣れた畑と機械なので問題ないが、一つ間違えると怪我をしそうなくらい暗い。
